Job Description:

The Radius Security Installation and Service Technician is responsible to the Radius Security Operations Manager to install and maintain portfolio of Remote Guarding Sites. Radius Security provides video surveillance solutions to construction (temporary site) and permanent sites (e.g. Car Dealerships and Outdoor Asset facilities). The Radius Security Installation and Service Technician has a keen customer focus and is a technically strong person accomplishing the deployment of new systems, refurbishing of temporary systems and maintenance on existing sites. The Technician works closely with team members locally including Sales, Installation and Service Coordinators, customers, third party providers and subcontractors as well as the Radius Security Canada group, and other support teams such as Central Monitoring Station, HR, Finance, IT, and Marketing in Canada to ensure the timely delivery of new installations and maintenance of existing systems in the portfolio. The Technician must adhere to the highest ethical and quality standards, creating a positive association between sales, installation, monitoring, customer service, and administration. It is imperative the Technician continually upgrades his skills and knowledge as new products, technologies, and standards evolve to ensure professionalism, excellence and 100% customer satisfaction.

The Path (key areas of accountability):

Responsible for installation and maintenance of our Remote Guarding video surveillance systems protecting our customers’ sites assuring the final product is installed to meet the expectations of the customer’s needs.

  • Works safely on sites and will learn how to use bucket trucks and other elevated work platform equipment and the use of personal fall restraint equipment when working on roofs and elevated work areas such as poles.
  • Prepare, program, and deploy systems for customer sites, including programming automation software, setting up various IP devices, and designing maps to provide situational awareness to our monitoring station operators.
  • Troubleshoot and repair video surveillance systems on customer sites as required
  • Directly involved in aiming cameras and IR illuminators to achieve optimal coverage and protection while minimizing false alarms for customer sites.
  • Will be involved in programming wireless devices and routers.
  • Learn troubleshooting skills to repair systems in the field.
  • Program video analytics software and review events that are false positive and false negative to adjust regions of interest and sensitivity to improve the accuracy of analytic events sent to the monitoring station.
  • Perform periodic maintenance at existing sites such as cleaning lens, adjusting cameras and replacing failing parts.
  • Skills should progress so that new installs are done in the time allotted and that rework and troubleshooting during deployment is minimized.
  • Complete trouble tickets on a timely basis and that system uptime is continuous.
  • Required to travel within the state of Texas for installation and maintenance of customer systems
  • Accountable to the Installation and Service Coordinator and Operations Manager to complete the assigned work.
  • Work collaboratively with 3rd party providers (electricians, material handling, etc.) to support the installation and maintenance of new sites in the geographical region the team supports.
  • Collaborate with the Assembly team in Canada to ensure deployment deadlines and committed Go Live dates are met.
  • Contributes and supports Lean initiatives and continuous improvement for the team.
  • Collaborates with the Sales team by ensuring installation, maintenance or missed incident issues are handled on a timely basis. The Technician may be called upon to deal directly with the customer.
  • Works with and maintains a favourable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment in order to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Expect regular feedback on their progress and development by the Radius Security Operations Manager.
  • A key process in the department is the Design and Finalize for a new Installation. The design documentation for the installation is created by Sales and the Team Lead including: (i) Camera throws, views and analytics on target, (ii) wiring, IR and pod designs, (iii) panel and assemblies required for manufacturing. The Radius Security Installation and Service Technician assures that the final product is installed to meet the expectations of the design team (Sales and Operations Manager) to assure well designed, profitable solutions to fulfill our customer’s needs.
  • Other key processes in the department that the Technician may be involved to meet business objectives include: Continuous Improvement, Standards for Installation and Maintenance, Safety, New products, Product Re-Designs, Product End of Life, and Technician Development.
  • Keep records up to date, including providing regular updates to the project management software used.
  • Assure accuracy in time and material costing to jobs and service tickets.
  • Work with sub-contractor and vendors as required.
  • Advise the Radius Security Operations Manager of field or product issues that are leading to rework, redesign, and premature failure.
  • Implement resolutions in a timely manner to any situation that arises on a project and inform the Operations Manager on an as needed basis.
  • Support Radius Security Operations Manager and other Teams to work and succeed in a rigorous challenging and changing business environment.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

The Person:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Having 6 months experience as a Technician would be a definite asset.
  • Must be able to follow work instructions and drawings requiring a high level of concentration with attention to detail.
  • Ability to use small hand and power tools in a proper and safe manner and have good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Strengths in quality standards and continuous improvement methods.
  • Has good reading comprehension, listening and speaking skills.
  • Speed and accuracy in performing repetitive tasks.
  • Superior computer skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good team working skills.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs periodically
  • Ability to work at heights (ladders, scissor and boom lifts)
  • Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions
  • Bending, lifting, crouching, crawling
